Snow fell across the Riverside County Mountains on January 3, with accumulations as low as 5400 feet reported. Most areas saw 1-3 inches, with Long Valley Mount San Jacinto seeing up to 6 inches of snow. Thundersnow was reported near Mount San Jacinto 4-6pm on January 3.

A fast moving storm system produced snow in the mountains and light rain across the coast and valleys. Several inches of snow were reported in the mountains, and thundersnow occurred in the Riverside County Mountains. Due to temperatures falling the upper 20s and the first snowfall, numerous spin outs occurred in Big Bear Lake.
