A thunderstorm complex swept through West Virginia on the afternoon and evening of July 5th in response to an upper level disturbance. Storms advanced eastward through the Ohio Valley and reached the western flank of the state that evening, bringing destructive winds as convection presented itself in a bowing segment. This resulted in areas of downed trees and power lines across north-central West Virginia before activity departed into the Mid-Atlantic.
