Event narrative

After earlier storms and heavy rain, a wake low pressure system developed and caused high winds in Leflore County. A total of 10 to 15 trees were blown down in Greenwood. A peak wind gust was of 51 mph was measured by the nearby Greenwood-Leflore Airport ASOS site KGWO during this time frame.

Wider weather episode

A line of severe thunderstorms produced significant wind damage, heavy rain, hail, and a tornado as it crossed from Northeast Louisiana into Mississippi during the evening of April 9th. Subsequent heavy rain and storms continued into the daytime of April 10th.
