A car slid off a bridge on County Road 507 and into a tree due to light ice accumulation on the bridge. There was one fatality.
A 43-year old female died (indirect) after her car hydroplaned shortly before midnight and was submerged in a flooded ditch. The car was headed southbound on Highway 49 approximately one mile north of the Holmes County line.
Around one half inch of mainly sleet fell across the county, but light snow and freezing rain also fell. Area roads were covered by sleet. Two fatalities occurred on the morning of January 20th when a car slid off the road due to residual ice on the road from the winter storm.
Several trees were blown down around town. One large tree blew down onto a van at an intersection. The front of the van was crushed, and the driver was killed.
Numerous roads were flooded in and north of the Greenwood area, including portions of US Highway 82 and MS Highway 7. About 50 homes were flooded in Greenwood and around the surrounding area including several along MS Highway 7 and several in the Yalobusha mobile home park. About…
