The mesonet 8 miles west of Lipscomb reported downburst wind
of 58 mph.
Wider weather episode
On the previous day, the 8th, severe thunderstorms had ravaged the combined OK/TX Panhandles. These storms were dying going into the early AM hours of the 9th. One of the showers still going over the eastern TX Panhandle did create a heat burst over the Lipscomb mesonet where this station measured a wind gust of 58 mph and saw a temperature spike with a drop in dewpoint.
