Event narrative

A wet microburst affected a portion of rural Lynn County between O'Donnell and Tahoka. A Texas Tech University West Texas mesonet site near O'Donnell measured severe wind gusts from 1508 CST through 1515 CST. A peak wind gust of 62 mph was measured at 1515 CST. Additionally, an NWS cooperative weather observer reported roof damage to a barn as well as crop damage from wind-driven small hail.

Wider weather episode

Isolated thunderstorms developed across the southern South Plains on the afternoon of the 30th. A very moist atmosphere was able to generate efficient rain producing thunderstorms. A slow moving isolated thunderstorm moving across southern Lynn County produced a wet microburst. Areas along US Highway 87 between O'Donnell and Tahoka were reported to have approximately six inches of water flowing over the roadway. Crop damage from wind-driven hail and roof damage to a barn were also reported.
