A backdoor cold front moving in from the northeast out of Virginia sparked late evening scattered showers and storms that formed initially over south-central Virginia. These storms moved south and impacted the northeast Piedmont and Triangle region before dissipating early on the 22nd over the eastern Sandhills to southern Coastal Plain. Isolated damaging winds were present in Durham County.
