Strong winds of 40 to 50 mph downed scattered trees and limbs, resulting in scattered power outages across the county. The wind toppled a tree onto a car on West Trinity Avenue, killing the passenger and seriously injuring the driver.
Numerous trees, power lines and power poles were blown down from near Chapel Hill to near Parkwood. A 55-year old man was killed by a falling tree as he was standing on the back deck of his home on Roper Lane in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
