Event narrative
Strong south winds developed through Windy Pass during the afternoon of the 15th and continued into the evening. The DOT Antler Creek mesonet station (ACRA2) reported wind gusts greater than 70 mph during the event, with a peak gust of 73 mph. The winds diminished quickly during the late evening and overnight hours.
Wider weather episode
A chinook developed over the Alaska Range, producing high winds near and through the passes on the north side of the range.
