ASOS station KBZN Bozeman Yellowstone Airport measured a severe gust.

Wider weather episode

A series of upper level shortwaves passed across Montana during the day on both September 2 and 3. This aided in thunderstorm formation in an environment marginally favorable for severe hail, and favorable for strong wind gusts (Deep inverted-V soundings). Only two severe caliber reports were received from these thunderstorms.
