Event narrative

Trained spotters reported 3.2 inches at 4 NNW New Fairfield, 2.5 inches at 1 E Danbury, and 2.4 inches at 3 WSW Shelton. Cocorahs observers also reported 3.0 inches at Ridgefield, 2.8 inches 4.5 SSE Bethel, and 2.5 inches in Monroe.

Wider weather episode

A somewhat surprise localized advisory level snow fell with marginal surface temperatures across far northern portions of Southern Connecticut from the late evening hours on December 4th, into the overnight hours of the early morning of December 5th. An upper level disturbance rotated around the base of a longwave trough as the primary surface low tracked well north of the region. Noticeably less to trace amounts of snow fell further south across Southern Connecticut closer to the coast.
