Event narrative

Snow fell through the early morning hours on the 18th with 4 inches accumulating by 740am as measured by a trained spotter. The heavy wet snow caused many broken branches from snow load with many plants and trees still having leaves. Moderate snowfall rates persisted in the evening with a storm total, with compaction, of 7.5 inches.

Wider weather episode

Cold air and overrunning moisture allowed for the first snows of the year for the Northern Inner Channels on the 17th. The cold air then to pushed farther south down Lynn Canal, causing snow for out the road in Juneau.
