The Glacier Bay COOP reported damaging winds on the 17th and noted a power outage between 11am to 1pm AKDT.

Snow is estimated to have begun around midnight with the Gustavus COOP measuring 5.5 inches by 5am. A trained spotter measured 6.5 inches by 945am that morning. Storm total of 16 to 18 inches of snow was observed before changing over to freezing rain between 7 and 8am on the 2nd.

Snow began around noon on the 1st and accumulated 8.9 inches by 5 AM on the 2nd as measured by a Co-Op in Gustavus. The greatest snowfall measurement was 12 inches at 9 AM by trained spotter.

Trained spotter reported 8 inches of snow had fallen in Gustavus between by 8pm on the 25th. Area COOPs also reported 6.5 to 8 inches the following morning.

Gustavus got 5.5 inches of new snow early on the morning of 12/9 which was rapidly compacted due to mixing with rain. Visibility got as low as one mile in the snow, and the heavy snow was difficult to remove and manage.

Gustavus airport measured gust 47 mph at 0500 AKST 2.3. NCEP surface analysis showed extreme pressure gradients across the area at that time and estimated gusts at the state pier were estimated at over 60 MPH. No reports of damage.

Gustavus woke up to 6.9 inches of new snow that had fallen overnight measured in the early morning of 1.22 Wind gusts were to 25 MPH with visibility down to 1/2 mile. Higher amounts fell up the Bay.
