Z-20 Spotter reported a two day total of 8.5 inches in town with some reports of 20 inches elsewhere around Gustavus.
Wider weather episode
Low pressure with an associated frontal system in the Gulf was assisted by a large stream of tropical moisture which moved over the Panhandle. An upper level trof dropping in from the north brought cold air caused heavy snow, significant winds and for the Klondike Highway a blizzard with low visibility.
