Winter Storm in Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Virginia

Winter Storm February 11, 2025 – February 12, 2025 · Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Virginia

The wider storm

An area of surface low pressure tracked across North Carolina with the upper level system across the Northeast. Favorable jet dynamics produced a swath of 4 to 12 inches of snow across the state. The higher amounts of 8 to 12 inches were along a line from Highland County along the I-64 corridor towards King George County where frontogenetic banding set up. Snow rates in this area exceeded 1 inch an hour at times. As the system pulled away during the morning of February 12, light snow mixed with freezing drizzle developed over parts of central VA.
