Snow Squall. A local highway webcam showed less than one quarter of a mile visibility with a nearby wind gust of 32 mph south of Westerlo.

A strong cold front crossed through eastern New York between late Monday, January 27 through the early morning of Tuesday, January 28, 2025. As a result, snow showers spread into the region, bringing light to locally moderate accumulations to the higher elevations of the Southwest Adirondacks in northern Herkimer County and snow squalls to areas farther south and east. Strong winds across portions of eastern New York resulted in occasional gusts between 35 and 50 mph. Snow squalls, with brief bursts of moderate to locally heavy snowfall rates, reduced visibility to less than a quarter of a mile in places, producing localized wind gusts on the order of 30 to 40 mph, and led to light accumulations of snow between the hours of 5 and 8 AM. Some accidents were reported on the morning on Tuesday, January 28 which led to travel delays during the morning commute.
