Moisture and lift associated with low pressure developing along the Gulf Coast overspread the Southeast and combined with cold surface high pressure to result in development of snow across North Carolina's northern mountains during late morning, continuing through the afternoon, before tapering off during the evening. A little sleet mixed in at times. Total accumulations were 3 to 5 inches, with locally higher amounts across the higher elevations.
