A C-MAN Station in Akutan reported a wind gust of 82 mph at 4:42 PM AKST on January 22nd. Winds were gusting to over 70 mph for two hours before this peak wind gust was reported and continued to gust to over 70 mph until 6:00 PM AKST the same day. Another C-MAN station in Unalaska reported gusty winds of over 70 mph starting at 8:42 AM AKST January 23rd; lasting until 3:00 PM AKST the same day. The peak wind for this station was 78 mph at 11:22 AM AKST.

An occluded front moved from west to east across the Southern Bering and Aleutians/Alaska Peninsula on January 22nd. High instability was present in the atmosphere with a strong temperature inversion at middle levels. Gusty winds South/Southwesterly winds of over 70 mph were felt in Akutan Island in the afternoon hours of January 22nd. Winds peaked in Unalaska in from 8:00 AM AKST to 3:00 PM AKST January 23rd, gusting to over 70 mph during this period.
