Event narrative
Siuslaw river rose above minor flood stage (18 ft) at 7 am on March 16, crested at 18.9 ft at 10 am PST (11 am PDT), and fell below flood stage at 1700 PST (1800 PDT).
Wider weather episode
Two quick hitting shortwave troughs brought widespread and sustained precipitation to the western Oregon allowing for heavy snowfall across the Cascades. A third deep upper trough then quickly followed as well, and due to an accompanying warm-frontal boundary localized river flooding developed due to a combination of ample rainfall and snowmelt.
