Lane storm history

Heavy rain caused the Siuslaw River near Mapleton to overflow its banks, causing major flooding to surrounding areas. The Siuslaw River crested at 28.1 feet on January 19th at 3 pm PST, 10.1 feet above flood stage.

Photographs and video from social media, in addition to a special METAR from KEUG, indicate a funnel cloud developed around 1-2 miles northwest of the Eugene Airport.

Siuslaw river rose above minor flood stage (18 ft) at 7 am on March 16, crested at 18.9 ft at 10 am PST (11 am PDT), and fell below flood stage at 1700 PST (1800 PDT).

Lane County posted on social media a video of Landslide clean up on Shoreview Drive east of Cottage Grove which had closed it overnight from March 16 to March 17.

Coast Fork Willamette River at Goshen rose above minor flood stage (15 ft) on Mar 16 at 1945 PST (2045 PDT), crested at 15.32 ft at 2200 PST (2300 PDT), and fell below minor flood stage around 1215 am PST (1315 am PDT) on March 17.

Due to heavy rainfall a Trained Spotter reported small stream flooding with water on Hendricks Rd near Enterprise Rd.

Siuslaw River near Mapleton. Reached minor flood stage (18 ft) at 1500 PST on Feb 23rd, 2025. Peaked at 18.64 ft at 2215 PST on Feb 23rd. It fell below minor flood stage at 215 PST on Feb 24th.

Thunderstorm winds resulted in several downed trees near Blue River. One of the trees fell on to a power line. It did not result in a wildfire, but did temporarily disrupt local power.

Numerous reports from start to end of 1 inch Hail including a report from the Coffee Pot Wildfire and photos from the Public on social media.

Spotter reported a rockslide on Highway 36, with small trees down, but could move around them. Tripcheck showed rockslide between Rainrock and Swisshome, OR. Areas of running water over Highway 36 and the train tracks was also observed.

The Siuslaw river at Mapleton rose above minor flood stage after noon on December 3rd and crested at 18.7 feet at 6 PM. Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

Landslides dumped mud, trees, and rocks across Highway 126 about 10 miles east of Florence. An estimated 300 yards of the highway was covered by the landslide, which took about 24 hours to clear.

The Middle Fork of the Willamette River near Jasper crested at 10.5 feet around 4 am on April 12th, which is 0.5 foot above flood stage.

The Siuslaw River near Mapleton crested at 19.7 feet around 9:30 AM, which is 1.7 feet above flood stage.

A level 3 evacuation was ordered for the 100-year flood plain along the Row River near Cottage Grove. The release of water from the Dorena Reservoir was higher than recorded in the 1996 flood.

Oregon Department of Transportation had to close highway 58 due to at least 3 landslides between Lowell and Oakridge. There were other landslides reported around the area as well, along LaDuke Road, Big Fall Creek Road, Winberry Road, and Sweet Creek Road.

The Coast Fork of the Willamette River near Goshen crested at 15.9 feet around 9 PM on April 8th, which is 2.9 feet above flood stage. People were evacuated out of the 100-year flood plain.

A dust devil developed, hitting a storage building at the Creswell Airport. The dust devil peeled back a 20-foot section of the roof.

Oregon DOT reported debris and mud washed over highway 242 in eastern Lane County, resulting in its closure. Heavy rain over the burn area from the 2017 Separation Fire was likely the cause.

Wind damage from thunderstorm winds were reported in Eugene and Creswell. Numerous trees were downed on vehicles and buildings, and downed power lines resulted in widespread electricity outages.

Heavy rain resulted in the Siuslaw River to exceed flood stage at Mapleton. Several small streams also flooded in the area.

There were several reports of a funnel cloud in the vicinity of Coburg, OR.

The Siuslaw River near Mapelton reached the flood stage of 22 feet at 1115 PM PST on December 20th. The river crested at 22.8 feet at 330 AM PST on December 21st, and dropped below flood stage at noon on the 21st.
