A total of 6 to 8 inches of snow accumulation from 2 PM Sunday through 7 AM Monday was observed with wind gusts exceeding 35 MPH during the entire period.

Surface low pressure transitioned from southwest Pennsylvania into upstate New York over the course of the day. . Behind the associated cold front, strong cold advection and a tight pressure gradient resulted in blizzard conditions in the ridges of southwest Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia.
