The coldest conditions were noted during the morning of the 22nd. Temperatures dropped as low as -10F, with wind chill values in the -25F to -30F range for several hours in the morning.

Wider weather episode

Following the snow event ending January 20th, an anomalously deep trough settled over North America through the 22nd. Temperatures plunged well below normal by the morning of the 21st, with lows in the -5F to -15F range (as low as -18F in isolated cases), and wind chill in the -10F to -20F range away from the ridges, and as cold as -30F in eastern Tucker County. Cold conditions peaked during the morning of the 22nd as Arctic high pressure settled in, with numerous lows in the -10F to -20F range, with wind chills as low as -25F in some brief cases.
