Event narrative

A National Weather Service Storm Survey Team determined that a tornado touched down just southwest of Longview Estates near Woodville Road in Woodville, North Carolina around 302 AM EDT. The tornado quickly moved northeast, rolling and destroying 3 mobile homes in Longview Estates, and damaging several others. Eight injuries occurred in Longview Estates, and the strongest wind speeds of up to 110 mph were in this area. After exiting Longview Estates, the tornado then moved across the Little River and continued into Pasquotank County.

Scattered severe thunderstorms developed ahead of an approaching cold front on the night of March 16 into the early morning hours of March 17 across northeast North Carolina.
