Event narrative

A National Weather Service Storm Survey Team determined that a tornado touched down just southwest of Longview Estates near Woodville Road in Perquimans County around 302 AM EDT. The tornado quickly moved northeast, crossing the Little River and continuing in Pasquotank County. The tornado crossed Halls Creek Road near Glade Road. The tornado tracked near Glade Road while downing numerous trees and damaging some sheds along the path. The tornado lifted around 306 AM EDT near the intersection of Glade Road and Simpson Ditch Road.

Scattered severe thunderstorms developed ahead of an approaching cold front on the night of March 16 into the early morning hours of March 17 across northeast North Carolina.
