Event narrative

Emergency management officials reported a landslide near the park on PR-770 in Barrio Canabn, Barranquitas. Approximately 10 to 15 families were cut off and unable to leave their homes due to blocked access. About 6 landslides were reported in this area. Officials were unable to respond during the night due to continuous rain but addressed the situation the following morning.

Wider weather episode

A mid-to-upper-level trough, in combination with a surface induced trough, produced periods of heavy rainfall that caused flash floods and landslides between April 19-21.
