Event narrative
During this 30 minute span, numerous wind gusts in excess of 58 mph occurred at the mesonet located three miles east of Dumas. A wind gust of 65 mph was the peak at 1301 CST.
Wider weather episode
A low pressure system developed across southern Colorado and resulted in a tight pressure gradient across the combined Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles. This brought sustained southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 70mph to the Panhandles.
