A Texas Tech University West Texas mesonet site near O'Donnell measured severe wind gusts from 1709 CST through 1723 CST with a peak gust of 65 mph.

Wider weather episode

Warm temperatures on the afternoon of the 14th allowed scattered thunderstorms to develop across portions of the South Plains. A few of these storms briefly became severe producing large hail and damaging wind gusts. Minor wind damage was reported around the city of Lubbock from this activity.
