Event narrative
Heavy rain in the head waters of the Dirty Devil resulted in the generation of a flood wave. The river gage on the Dirty Devil measured a rapid spike in flow from a no-flow state to a flow of 727 cfs over the course of 30 minutes.
Wider weather episode
An early September moisture surge resulted in the return of a more active weather pattern to Utah, including some isolated instances of flash flooding as well as a strong thunderstorm wind gust.
