The wider storm

Oppressive heat continued to plague the Mid-South as an intense ridge retrograded across the Lower Mississippi Valley. Highs ranged from the upper 90s to the lower 100s. Dewpoints across the region soared into the upper 70s and low 80s. This combination led to dangerous heat indices greater than 110 degrees nearly areawide.
