Wider weather episode
A weak cold front moved into and stalled across North Texas, serving as a focus for scattered shower and storm development over the first few days of August as upper level disturbances moved overtop the region. The storms were slow-moving and some became severe, producing damaging winds and hail. The highest wind gust occurred in the early morning hours of August 4th, when a microburst over the DFW ASOS produced an 89 mph wind gust (the strongest on record at that ASOS). Between the 1st and the 4th, there were many reports of damaging winds, and one report of 1 inch hail near Euless.
