Wider weather episode
A strong storm system approached the region on the 24th creating several landspout tornadoes along a nearly stationary boundary in the southwestern Texas Panhandle. A surface cyclone was located near Bootleg (Deaf Smith County) with a quasi-stationary front extending southwest from this low. Clearing cloud cover allowed for surface heating and strong low level vorticity near this boundary creating scattered thunderstorms and at least three landspout tornadoes. No known damage occurred with any of the landspout tornadoes.
