Event narrative
Storm spotters and chasers captured footage of a funnel cloud south of Martinton that lasted several minutes. Photos and video showed that the funnel cloud was intermittently in contact with the ground as it moved northeast across open fields between N 1900 East Road and N 2400 East Road. The last footage of the funnel cloud was captured around 15:59 CST as it dissipated east of Martinton, south of E 2800 North Road. There was no known damage from this tornado.

Severe thunderstorms moved across portions of central Illinois during the late morning of December 28th producing localized wind damage. Additional severe thunderstorms moved across parts of central Illinois during the afternoon producing additional wind damage and six tornadoes. Heavy rain also caused localized flooding.
