Event narrative

Wind gusts 55 to 70 mph were widespread with a peak of 68 mph at Timmerman Hill. A 63 mph wind gust was recorded at the SUN AWOS site. Twelve aspen trees were blown down along Broadford Road 1 mile South of Hailey. Large sections of cottonwood trees were blown down along Lower Bradford Rd 1 mile west southwest of Bellevue. Several trees downed southeast of Hailey in the Wood River Valley. Multiple large trees snaped off or downed with multiple trees downed in Bellevue at the Howard Preserve.

Wider weather episode

A powerful cold front ripped through eastern Idaho on the 17th and included severe thunderstorms along the front and extremely high non thunderstorm winds in the cold sector post cold frontal passage throughout the day. Extensive damage was reported throughout the region.
