Wider weather episode
Icy roads were blamed for a head-on collision that occurred just before 8 AM EST on State Route 11 about a half-mile north of College Avenue in Nicholson. A pick up truck lost control and veered into oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, the driver in the other vehicle passed away at the scene as a result of the crash. Temperatures had dropped just below freezing shortly before the time of the crash in the wake of rain showers and a cold frontal boundary that moved through, resulting in the development of icy conditions.
