Observations from the Glasgow Airport ASOS, DOT reports of severe driving conditions and an NWS Employee confirmed near-zero visibility in blowing snow. Additionally at 9:15 AM, DOT reported a semi-truck slide-off resulting in blocked lanes of traffic.
The wider storm
A strong low pressure system became stationary over northeast Montana and introduced much colder air from the northeast. This combined with consistently gusty winds to produce white-out blizzard conditions for some locations.
