A compact short-wave within northwest flow aloft moved across the Northern Plains late February 27 into February 28. Mid-level frontogenesis and sufficient moisture resulted in a narrow band of light to moderate snow mainly along and north of a De Smet, SD to Windom, MN line. These areas received 1-5 inches of snow. Winds were light during the snowfall, limiting blowing and drifting.
