High Wind in East Laramie County, Wyoming
High Wind April 22, 2026 – April 23, 2026 · East Laramie County, Wyoming
What the National Weather Service wrote
A maximum wind gust of 62 MPH was observed at the Gun Barrel WYDOT sensor along US-85 at 12:06 AM MST on 4/23.
The wider storm
A strong trough moving into the Rockies created a long duration high wind event across most of southeast Wyoming and parts of western Nebraska. A strong sea level pressure gradient lead to strengthening winds aloft, with strong subsidence and mountain waves helping get these strong winds down to the surface.
