The wider storm
A nearly stationary boundary hovered over central Ohio, northern West Virginia, and southern Pennsylvania on June 27th and 28th, but eventually sank south of the area early on the morning of the 29th.
Rounds of rain and thunderstorms continued to develop along and south of the front, depositing one to three inches of rain across much of the area. While the heaviest rain amounts fell in the southern coal fields, soils to the north had already been compromised by prior rounds of precipitation. Thus, an inch to an inch-and-a-half of rain was enough to spawn some flooding on roads in Harrison, Barbour, and Randolph counties.
Began near West Milford (39.2300, -80.4100).
