A 63 mph wind gust was measured at the mesonet site located 11 miles southwest of Romero. Gusts above 58 MPH lasted from 1756 to 1800.

The wider storm

Hot conditions prevailed across the Panhandles during the week of June 8 through 12. However, the combination of lingering moisture, a dryline and these hot conditions allowed for a few thunderstorms to develop each day during the afternoon and evening. Some of these storms were severe with hail and damaging winds being the main hazard.
