A 61 mph thunderstorm wind gust was measured at mesonet station located 11 miles south-southwest of Romero. Peak wind of 61 mph continued for about two minutes.

The wider storm

Hot conditions prevailed across the Panhandles during the week of June 8 through 12. However, the combination of lingering moisture, a dryline and these hot conditions allowed for a few thunderstorms to develop each day during the afternoon and evening. Some of these storms were severe with hail and damaging winds being the main hazard.
