What EF1 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF1 is moderate damage: roofs badly stripped, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, windows broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 86–110 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

This tornado damaged the hospital, damaged a few homes, uprooted a tree, and snapped numerous large tree limbs. Based on this damage, maximum estimated wind in the tornado was 85 to 90 mph.

The wider storm

Thunderstorms increased across eastern Oklahoma during the afternoon of the 27th, as an upper level low pressure system approached the region. The air mass became moderately unstable during the afternoon, and wind shear northeast of the surface low pressure center across southeastern Oklahoma became supportive of rotating storms. Two tornadoes developed from these thunderstorms.

Began near Antlers (34.2306, -95.6147).
