The wider storm

A cluster of thunderstorms developed over northern Illinois during the pre-dawn hours of June 6th, then dropped southeastward into central Indiana as the morning progressed. The storms skirted through Vermilion County with gusty winds and rain, but no reports of severe weather or flooding. By late afternoon, thunderstorms began re-developing along the residual outflow boundary...with cells continuously back-building over portions of Vermilion County into the evening. Very heavy rainfall occurred in a small portion of the county from Bismarck to the northern edge of Danville. The Danville Airport (KDNV) measured 6.41, while an observer 1 mile west-northwest of the airport received 7.50. The heavy rain falling on already wet soils led to flash flooding during the evening, with residual flooding lingering into the morning of June 7th. Water rescues had to be performed near Stoney Creek on the southeast side of Danville as the creek overflowed its banks and flooded a few homes.

Began near Jamesburg (40.2836, -87.7593).
