The wider storm

A line of strong to severe storms organized over southwest Kentucky during the early morning hours of June 1, 2026. These storms moved south into West Tennessee and along the Tennessee River into northeast Mississippi during the morning hours. The storms fed on strong instability and adequate deep-layer shear to produce isolated wind damage and large hail. This first round of storms left behind an outflow boundary extending from eastern Arkansas across the Memphis metropolitan area into north Mississippi. Storms ignited along this boundary during the late afternoon and evening hours, fueled by strong instability and an upper-level trough overspreading the region. There were several additional reports of large hail and damaging winds.

Began near Love (34.7400, -90.0000).
