Event narrative

High winds broke branches of various sizes out of cottonwood trees at the mouth of Canyon de Chelly. The winds also caused the power to go out in Chinle. The weather station at Red Mountain School had a peak gust of 61 MPH.

A very powerful cold front moving across northern Arizona brought high winds, power outages, and some damage to structures and vehicles.
