Event narrative

An overrunning snow event occurred over the interior valleys of Misty Fjords impacting the town of Hyder. A public report from Hyder of estimated 20 inches of snow between 7 pm the 2nd and noon the 3rd.

Wider weather episode

An arctic air mass was in place over Southeast Alaska panhandle and the eastern half of the Gulf of Alaska at the beginning of February. A series of low pressure centers developed over the north central Pacific Ocean and moved over the Gulf of Alaska and the panhandle through the 3rd.
