Event narrative
The excessive heat resulted in the death of a 61 year old male during the afternoon of August 2nd. The man died of a heat stroke while outside.
Wider weather episode
A large ridge of high pressure both at the surface and aloft allowed for excessively hot temperatures across northeast Texas through much of August. Daily afternoon temperatures often climbed above 100 degrees with heat index values climbing between 105 to 110 degrees in the afternoon.
