Tides 1/2 to 1 foot above expected astronomical with breakers of 6 to 8 feet.

Wider weather episode

A vigorous low pressure center developed east of the North Carolina coast and moved slowly west and then southwest to position itself east of Saint Simons and Cumberland Island, Georgia. The low brought gusty winds and high surf to the coastal areas and eventually evolved into Sub-Tropical Storm Andrea on the 9th.
