The Hickory Hill wildfire had burned about 41 acres on Cumberland Island.

The wildfire on Cumberland Island expanded to 2,400 acres on July 4th. By July 9th, the South Cut fire on the northern end of Cumberland Island was 100 percent contained. The total burn acreage was 2,661 acres.

Brush fires grew from 50 acres to around 700 acres in 24 hours from strong thunderstorm wind gusts in the vicinity. On the 27th, the fire on the north end of the island grew to 1,200 acres. By July 4th, the fire had grown to 2,400 acres on the island.
