Event narrative

Heavy rain during Tuesday evening caused several roadways near Saint Martinville to be closed from flooding. Roads and schools remained closed into the 10th. Crawfish farmers in the area had crops washed out due to the amount of rainfall. Around 30 homes received damage from the flood waters.

Wider weather episode

A stalled frontal boundary along with multiple impulses aloft lead to an extended duration of rain, thunderstorms, and even a couple tornadoes. Massive flooding occurred along the Mermentau River where rainfall totals exceeded one foot at some locations during the event. Flood waters slowly drained over a couple of weeks.
