Event narrative

A member of the public reported large hail; the largest hail was at least 1.0 inches in diameter. Holes were punched in plastic greenhouses and there was some agricultural and other vegetation damage. Hail duration was 10 minutes.

Wider weather episode

Copious moisture was already in place when a cutoff low moved through southwest Oregon and northern California...providing an upper level trigger for thunderstorm development. Many thunderstorms developed, with over 10000 lightning strikes recorded. Some of the thunderstorms became severe.
